Tiles and wordmark bars
They carry their own background, so they work anywhere. All 6 · zipUsing the marks
How we, and anyone working with us, use the marks. The wording lives in our design system; these pictures are drawn from the files above.
Start here
Not sure which mark to use? Use the navy ink wordmark on light backgrounds and the light gold one on dark backgrounds. They're our most used.
Clear space
Around the wordmark and lockups, leave the glyph's height on every side. Around the glyph alone, a quarter of its height, never less than 8 px or 2 mm, and half its height beside another logo.
Minimum size
Never go below these sizes — fine lines close up.
Two-tone and gold deep need more, because gold deep has the least contrast. Marks are shown at actual size at 100% zoom.
| Mark | Most colorways | Two-tone and gold deep |
|---|---|---|
| Wordmark | ||
| Horizontal lockup | ||
| Stacked lockup | ||
| Glyph | ||
| Tiles | In a tile the glyph has no minimum, and a tile may shrink to a 16 px favicon. | |
Too small? Switch to navy ink, then step down: lockup, wordmark, glyph or tile.
Approved backgrounds
Every color in the mark keeps at least 3:1 on these. Anywhere else, use the colorway with the most contrast and check it where it's weakest; under 3:1, move the mark or use a tile.

Ratios are the weakest color in the mark against the background, by the WCAG formula. Tiles and wordmark bars carry their own background, so they work on any of these.

Please don't
Use the marks as supplied, and keep the glyph as the A in COMPASS only.
Designed with care by in New Market.
Colors and who may use them
Brand colors only, plus pure black and white for one-color jobs.
Pure black and white are for one-color jobs only: single-color printing, embroidery, vinyl. Black and white files aren't in the kit yet, so ask us. Any other color, such as a material's own finish, needs Allison's or Canyon's approval for that one job.
- Employees and contractors, for studio work.
- Trade partners, only to identify work done with or for the studio.
- Ask us before putting a mark on anything sold, and never suggest we endorse another business.
- Only Allison or Canyon approves a new, changed or retired mark. Nobody else makes one-off versions.
Color
Navy and Ink carry weight. Paper and Tan carry surfaces. Gold is a fine pen line, never a fill. Select a swatch to copy its hex.

Designing your home should be the best part of having one.
A place to listen first. We keep our project list short, so every home receives the founders’ hands from first sketch to final walk-through.
We work in warm, quiet materials (cedar, stone, lime plaster, brass that ages) and we build to last for generations, not seasons.
